No. 261 Seattle Center and Space Needle

Seattle Center        Website: http://www.seattlecenter.com/
305 Harrison St
Seattle, WA

International Fountain

Completed just a day before the April 21, 1962 World's Fair grand opening, Seattle Center is a 74 acre area park north of the downtown business district of Seattle. The theme for the World's Fair was "World of Tomorrow" and organizers followed that vision by incorporating new architecture with new technologies. A 1 mile long elevated monorail track connect Westlake Mall to Seattle Center with trains leaving every 10 minutes. The most visible and most iconic structure built for the worlds fair and that is also a major feature of the Seattle skyline is the 605 foot tall Space Needle. Scene from multiple vantage points around the city the Space Needle still towers over the rising local business buildings for now.  The Space Needle restaurant's stands 500 feet off the ground and features a window seating area that rotates 360 degrees in 47 minutes.
Also located on the campus of Seattle Center are performance theaters, auditoriums, grassy knolls,  children museum, Key Arena, International Fountain and skate park. Recent additions include the Experience Music Project, which features interactive collections and exhibits on various types of music, and the Chihuly Glass Garden featuring works by Dale Chihuly.

No. 236 12th Ave South Bridge, Dr Jose Rizal Bridge

Built in 1911, the 171 foot long 12th Avenue South Bridge remains Washington State's oldest steel-arch bridge. The bridge connects Dearborn Street in the International District to Beacon Hill. In the past the bridge spanned trolley lines. By 1936 the trolley lines were removed and a 40 foot roadway was installed. In the 1960s the bridge underwent improvements as the Interstate 5 and Interstate 90 interchange was built.

The 12th Ave South Bridge is a good vantage point for sunset shots of the downtown Seattle Stadium District with the Olympic Mountains in the background. Depending on the time of year the sunset will set just behind the downtown buildings. It is also a popular location for longe exposure photography with I-5 & I-90 snaking it way through the frame.
You can find parking north of the bridge adjacent to the Pacific Med Building and Dr Jose Razal Park.

No. 151 Gum Wall

The Market Theater Gum Wall
1428 Post Alley, Seattle, WA 98101

MAP IT

Located on the north end of Post Alley, underneath Pike Place Market, sticks the growing city and touristy attraction of the Gum Wall. Things started to stick in the early 1990s, when people, irritated that they had to wait in line to get tickets to the Market Theater, stuck chewing gum on the wall. At first, they would use the gum to stick small coins to the wall, but in time, the tradition of the coins disappeared, and the gum remained.
Theater attendants scraped the Gum Wall twice, but gave up in 1999, when it became a certified tourist attraction of Seattle. Now it is filled with thousands of pieces of chewing gum, of any color imaginable. And, as the wall grows, the chewing gum art becomes more sophisticated. You’ll find names written with pieces of gum, and symbols like hearts or the peace sign.
But, the Seattle Gum Wall is also one of the germiest tourist destinations on Earth. In a ranking made by Trip Advisor, it came in second place, after Ireland’s Blarney Stone.
