The 2013 Pacific North West Air Show Calendar is coming to end soon and its has been a great summer to take in the sights, sounds and smells at area airports. Everything from the turn of the century flight to modern jet age was in the air this year around Seattle.
Flying Heritage Collection ( http://www.flyingheritage.com/) final low pass for 2013 will be this Saturday in Everett, WA. Weather, mechanical and pilot availability are still in the works.
The Final air demonstration and Air to Air battle will feature Flying Heritage Collections Ilyushin II-2M3 Shturmovik (piloted by Ross Granley) versus the German Focke-Wulf 190A-5 (piloted by Steve Hinton).
Both aircraft are combat veterans who flew over the Eastern Front Theater. The Ilyushin II-2M3 was Russia's Air to Ground Tank buster. Featuring power guns and thick armor in the airframe it provided increased protection to the pilot and aircraft on low air to ground straffing runs.
The German Focke-Wulf 190A-5 was a successful air to air intercepter during WWII with its speed and agility.
See both Eastern Front veterans take to the sky this Saturday at noon @ Flying Heritage Collection
