Kayak Point Park is on the eastern shore of Port Susan Bay. The park has over a half mile of saltwater beach access which makes it a popular destination for picnicking, boating and swimming. There is a fishing pier that extends 300 feet out into Port Susan and at the far end the water depth is 50 feet, which places fisherman on top of a variety of fish such as flounder, sole, true cod, rockfish, and walleye pollock year-round and migrating sea perch in spring and summer. Baited crab pots are used to attract Dungeness and red rock crab to the pier.
Kayak Point is also a great place to go camping close to home. Whether it is in your personal tent nestled in the tall trees with electric hook-up and water, or in the newly constructed 4 person yurt cabins or stay at the Kayak Kottage Vacation House.

Founded in the 1970s by Dick Wagner of Seattle, the Center for Wooden Boats has evolved into a living maritime museum that preserves, documents, educates visitors on the local history of wooden boats. Beginning as boat rental business from his houseboat under the Aurora bridge in the 1960s.
The CWB now has over 170 boats including sailboats, rowboats, pedal boats and electrical powered boats at three locations South Lake Union, Northlake Workshop and at Cama Beach State Park on Camano Island.

No. 165 Bowman Bay, Whidbey Island

Bowman Bay is located just north of the Deception Pass Bridge off of Highway on Fidalgo Island. The bay is separated from Lottie Bay to the south by a small and growing sand bar but it still is subject to tidal changes. Check current tidal conditions before your arrival to predict access to the shoreline.
Until the late 1800s, this calm-watered cove was the site of a large Samish village, one of several that existed near Deception Pass.  Evidence of their presence in the area remains in the form of thick groves of Nootka rose that grow atop iron-rich shell middens.
Before receiving its modern name, Bowman Bay was known as “Reservation Bay” due to the period in which it was a military reservation.  In the early 1900s, Bowman Bay was one of several modern-day park areas set aside for military use.  The area was eventually renamed in honor of Amos Bowman, who was one of the first white settlers on Fidalgo Island.  Nearby Anacortes is amalgamation of “Anna Curtis,” Bowman’s wife.  At the turn of the century, Bowman had a wooden dock built at the bay in hopes that it would become a major port, but Bowman’s dream was never realized.

No. 131 Waverly Beach Park

Waverly Park is one of those hidden lake side parks that only locals seem to know about. It is a few blocks off the main road which makes it hard for passers by to easily stumble up on this waterfront park. Located at the bottom of a hill his park offers nearly 500 feet of waterfront on 2.76 acres of prime waterfront real estate right on Lake Washington. Features public dock, picnic tables, benches, restrooms, children’s playground, open lawn areas, on-site parking, enclosed swimming area, fishing area, and windsurfing area. During the summer months a privately run refreshment stand serves up drinks and ice cream to cool off.

Directions:
From I-405, take the NE 85th Street exit (exit 18) toward Kirkland. Turn slight right onto NE 85th Street / WA-908. Stay straight to go onto Central Way. Turn right onto Market Street then left onto Waverly Way. End at 633 Waverly Way, Kirkland.

Picnic Point Park 12001 Picnic Point Road Edmonds, WA 98026 Located on the shores of Puget Sound, Picnic Point Park offers a tranquil and scenic setting for picnicking and beach activities. Tables and charcoal cookers are available for picnicking enjoyment. With its excellent views of Whidbey Island and the distant Olympic Mountain range, sunset viewing is always a popular pastime. With its large pedestrian overpass, the park provides convenient access to the beach, picnic areas, and restrooms. Those who are physically challenged may require assistance. As with all the beaches lining the Puget Sound area their accessibility depends on the current tide levels. To get the most beach area make sure you visit the park during a low tide.

No. 106 Pier 62/63

Located along the downtown waterfront Pier 62/63 jets out into Elliot Bay as an expansive open area that used to be the former site of the annual Summer Nights at the Pier concert series, at which performances were punctuated by the sound of passing trains and trolleys, and docking and departing ferries. Although occasionally hosting other special events, for most of the rest of the year the pier provides a place to stroll out over the water to view Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains to the west, and the Seattle skyline to the east. The Piers are aged and deteriorating, and can no longer bear the load of heavy weights.

Piers 62 & 63 are a perfect destination for an evening stroll if you live up on Queen Anne, Capitol or First Hill.  There are always a lot of tourists in the waterfront area but I think this makes for good people watching.

Pier 62/63 is located between the Bell Harbor Marina and the Seattle Aquarium. There is paid street parking available during off peak hours.
