The skies above Concrete this weekend will be filled with airplanes and the history those planes represent.

The North Cascades Vintage Fly-In will take place Friday through Sunday, July 19-221, at Mears Field. Dozens of antique, classic and vintage airplanes are expected, as their owners will display the planes both on the ground and in the air.

The Museum of Flight is located at the south west corner of Runway 13R/31L at Boeing Field-King County International Airport and is open daily and stays open late on First Thursday evenings, free of charge. The museum collection boasts over 85 different aircraft displayed in 9 different galleries  starting with the early manned flying machines to more modern jet aircraft. There are museum complex features nine indoor and outdoor galleries and air park and in 2012 The Museum of Flight was awarded NASA's retired Space Shuttle Crew Trainer. It takes a special company with a vision for seeing the large picture to take on the goal of collecting and preserving some of aviation's largest achievements. Evergreen International Aviation, Inc a company known for its heavy lifters such as the modified Boeing 747-400 Dreamlifter Cargo Freighter, the forest fire fighting aerial Supertanker capable of dropping over 20,500 gallons of water or retardant and its fleet of heavy lift helicopters.
Founded in the memory of Captain Michael King Smith, the exhibits celebrate the lives of innovators, pilots, and veterans who courageously pioneered flight in these remarkable machines.
Established in 1991 the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum has been adding more exhibit space to house its growing collection of aviation history. The campus currently features 2 main buildings for its aviation and space themed exhibit halls, an indoor water park and an IMAX Movie theater. Under construction and planned for a 2014 opening is a resort hotel.

In 1988 the Disney Corporation purchased the land and facility which housed  the Spruce Goose (Hughes H-4 Hercules) in Long Beach, California. After Disney's plan for a Maritime Attraction was scrapped they announced that it was planning on converting the land and buildings into movie sound stages and were planning on scudding and scraping the Flying Boat Spruce Goose. In 1992, the Evergreen Museum won the bid with a proposal to build a museum around the aircraft and feature it as a central exhibit.

In addition to the Seattle campus, the Museum of Flight operates a 23,000 square foot Restoration Center at Paine Field/Snohomish County Airport in Everett, Washington. The center is home to approximately three dozen aircraft in varying states of restoration by the Museum's volunteer restorers. Each project is a labor of love, sometimes requiring several years to complete. A group of dedicated volunteers works to restore each aircraft to exhibition quality which will then become part of static display at the Boeing Field location.

The Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour offers the only opportunity to tour a commercial jet assembly plant in North America. The center and tour are made possible through the collaboration of the Boeing Company, Future of Flight Foundation, Snohomish County Public Facilities District and the Snohomish County Airport/Paine Field.
Located approximately 25 miles north of Seattle, The Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour is the only public tour of a commercial jet assembly plant in North America.
Explore the interactive exhibits and displays in our 28,000-square-foot Aviation Center Gallery; then go behind the scenes for a 90-minute tour of the Boeing plant where you can watch 747s, 777s, or 787s being assembled right before your eyes.
The Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. year-round, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
Boeing tours begin at 9 a.m. and are offered on the hour with the last tour time starting at 3 p.m. Additional tour times may be added during high season (June-September). On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, the Future of Flight closes at 1:30pm with the last Boeing Tour of the day beginning at 11:00am.
