It takes a special company with a vision for seeing the large picture to take on the goal of collecting and preserving some of aviation's largest achievements. Evergreen International Aviation, Inc a company known for its heavy lifters such as the modified Boeing 747-400 Dreamlifter Cargo Freighter, the forest fire fighting aerial Supertanker capable of dropping over 20,500 gallons of water or retardant and its fleet of heavy lift helicopters.
Founded in the memory of Captain Michael King Smith, the exhibits celebrate the lives of innovators, pilots, and veterans who courageously pioneered flight in these remarkable machines.
Established in 1991 the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum has been adding more exhibit space to house its growing collection of aviation history. The campus currently features 2 main buildings for its aviation and space themed exhibit halls, an indoor water park and an IMAX Movie theater. Under construction and planned for a 2014 opening is a resort hotel.

In 1988 the Disney Corporation purchased the land and facility which housed  the Spruce Goose (Hughes H-4 Hercules) in Long Beach, California. After Disney's plan for a Maritime Attraction was scrapped they announced that it was planning on converting the land and buildings into movie sound stages and were planning on scudding and scraping the Flying Boat Spruce Goose. In 1992, the Evergreen Museum won the bid with a proposal to build a museum around the aircraft and feature it as a central exhibit.

Referred to as Snohomish County's 'treasure', the Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens is both a place of beauty and education and is free to the public. Located on 3 ½ acres in Everett Washington, its ten themed gardens include the Urban Tree Walk, Entrance Garden, Rock Garden, Northwest Native Plant Trail, Rain Garden, Japanese Maple Grove, Northwest Demonstration Garden, Viewing Mound, Woodland and Conifer Gardens as well as the 200' Snohomish County Master Gardener's Demonstration Border and sculptures throughout. Weaving through these gardens are ADA approved pervious pathways in most areas. There are countless ways to experience and enjoy all that the Evergreen Arboretum has to offer; docent-led tours, free educational classes, the annual plant sale and volunteerism. Come witness the beauty that every season holds. The Arboretum is open from dawn until dusk.
