Marymoor Park in Redmond, is one of the most popular parks on the Eastside. With 640 acres of grass fields, gardens, trails, playgrounds, and more, it is a destination for families, sports enthusiasts, weekend bikers, and more. The park has become such an important part of community life in the area that it is easy to forget that it wasn't always a public area. The history of Marymoor Park is as fascinating as the park itself.
The Clise Windmill is located on the western edge of Marymoor Park near the Clise Mansion  along the Sammamish Slough. James Clise had this windmill constructed to resemble the many windmill he and his wide had enjoyed on their european vacations to Holland.

No. 108 Marymoor Community Garden

Where is the garden?
 The garden is on the western end of Marymoor Park in Redmond, WA., near the concert stage and off-leash dog park. From Highway 520 take the south bound exit to West Lake Sammamish Parkway. Turn left at NE Marymoor Way. Turn right at the second intersection and it will be on your left after you pass the pay booths. There is a $1 daily usage fee to enjoy the Park.

Marymoor Community Garden is run by a non-profit organization that maintains and administers a 2.9 acres area with the King County park. There are 80 gardening plots ranging in size from 10'x40' to half plots with are 10'x20' that are handed out through an application process.
Some gardeners chose to grow vegetables while others fill their plot with flowers. In late spring you can start to see the fruits of these gardeners labor come to life and the fragrances and colors last through the summer.

Directions: The Velodrome at Marymoor Park is located in Marymoor Park, 6046 West Lake Sammamish Parkway NE, Redmond, WA.

From I-5 or I-405, take State Route 520 east to the West Lake Sammamish Parkway exit. At the bottom of the ramp, go right (southbound) on W. Lake Sammamish Parkway NE. The park entrance is the next left at the traffic light. Marymoor is also accessible by foot, bicycle or rollerblades via the Burke-Gilman/Sammamish River Trail. Parking with requires a $1 parking permit that can be bought at various kiosks in the park with bills or coins.

Racing is now on tap four nights per week (M, W, Thu, F). Spectators are welcome every night and admission is free of charge on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Friday Night races are $5 fee.

No. 21 Early Morning Walk-Around Marymoor

I found myself near Redmond, WA this morning so I decided to head over to Marymoor for an early morning shoot. Coming down the freeway exit I saw the there were lights illuminating huge tents in the middle of the park. There is a show going in called Cavalia setup currently on the grounds. Simple shot, tripod, a few bracketed shots and don't get kicked off the property by security.



While waiting for the sunrise to happen at about 7:40am I was hopping the open fields would be thick with morning fog but conditions as of late have been warm so no lake fog was forming before sunrise. I stayed along the western side of the park and took some shots of the old mill near the Clise Mansion. Oddly I have been driving past this gem for some time but in spring and summer it is pretty well hidden a few hundred yards off the main roadway.
